As you know, the Quebec government is setting up a vaccination passport for non-essential activities as of September 1. As we are on the list of places that must apply the rule, we will set up a checkpoint at the entrance to the Sportplexe. Everyone entering the Sportplexe will be required to show their QR code as well as a piece of identification. To ensure the smoothest access possible, please prepare everything you need in advance.
The people concerned by the vaccination passport are people 13 years of age and over. Children 12 and under will simply need to be able to confirm their age with a piece of identification.
Implementing this measure in barely a week of preparation will be difficult. The government is giving us until September 15 to comply, and we will use that time to prepare well. The labor shortage is an additional challenge to be able to set up this checkpoint. So between September 1 and September 14, we will not deny access to the Sportplexe to anyone who does not have their vaccination passport or who has a red scan. However, as of September 15, we will have to apply the rule strictly or face a fine.
We will be lucky to be able to stay open and you will be able to enjoy ice sports. The vaccination passport is a measure that seems to be a downside, but compared to the closure of businesses, we believe is necessary. I hope you understand the situation and cooperate in implementing this rule. A meeting with the arena association si set for Monday August 30th, we will communicate any changes or precisions.
The Sportplexe team wishes you a good start to the 2021-2022 season.
